Port Loring Weather, Happenings & Fishing Times

Good morning.  Well rainy day here this morning.  Waking up temperatures were sitting at:  18.6 C | 65.48 F.  Had 22 mm of rain since last night.

Forecast For Today:   Stormy, much rain  off an on throughout the day.  Kind of looking like it might be a wet week but sun will shine through off and on.  Mid week we could see some cooler temperatures.

Bug Report:  Yesterday they weren’t to bad other than a few mosquitoes annoying folks.  Nothing that would cause some one not to get outside and go for a walk.

Fishing Times:   Well today I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Bait of choice would be worms teased by a small lime coloured lure with small hook.  The old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM then once again from 2:30 PM – 4:45 PM.  Good luck.

Around Town:   Not too much to report here this morning.   Hardly a car at this time moving up or down highway 522.  Tourists are easing their way into our area, but weather won’t be cooperating too well this week for those out and about.  I have found over the years that most folks take their holidays either starting the first of July, or the first of August.  Some hold back some don”t.  July here in Port Loring has been a touch slow. August is on the horizon though and will unfold all he mysteries shortly.  For most parts though the stores and business’s are doing OK.  In reality money isn’t what life is all about any ways. At least that is what, should be the case.  So my friends, enjoy your day and have some fun with family, friends or by yourself.  GW

Port Loring Information, Weather & Fishing Times

Good morning.  Well  starting off this morning things are looking nice weather wise.  Temperatures were sitting at:  16.4 C | 61.52 F waking up.  Really sleeping weather no one can deny that.

Forecast For Today:   Stormy, much rain which will occur a bit later on in the day.  So would be well looked at if some outside work was in order this would be the time to do it.

Bug Report:  I did find the mosquitoes to be quite bad yesterday.  And I figure with rain in the forecast they will continue to be bad today also.  Not so bad that one can’t enjoy the outside though.

Fishing Times:   The old weather stick today is saying that the best time to be out there catching them is from 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  If the rain holds back you could pull a few big ones in from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  Only if it doesn’t rain.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 4 for catching them today.  Bait I would use would be minnows with a silver lure, small hook. Good luck.

Around Town:    Things are quiet for this time of year.  Few stores here in town though are doing well, which is a good thing.  Great to see folks in our area supporting our very own.  Gardens are taking shape more each day.  I did manage to do some weeding yesterday cutting them off with a hoe and leaving them lie for mulch for my other plants.  Works good and gives the veggies a needed boost this time of year.  So my friends you all have a great day, soak up some sunshine while you can this morning and don’t over do it with work.  Work isn’t what life is all about nor money.  GW

Port Loring Information, FIshing Times & Weather Updates

Good morning. Well another great looking day here in Port Loring.  Temperatures are sitting at…10.2 C | 50.36 F.   Will warm up more as the day progresses.

Forecast For Today:   Fairly fine, improving throughout the day.

Bug Report:  Not to bad out there this morning, few mosquitoes bugging folks but all is well.

Fishing Times:    This morning I give it a 3 fish rating for catching them out of 4.  The old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  So lots of time to hook on that big one.

Around Town:    Not to much happening in the way of events. One lake I know of is quite busy with boaters, jet skies and you name it.  For myself I choose to have the quiet lakes.  Not into the new modern day ways of enjoying ones self. But everyone has their own way of doing things.  On another note…gardens are growing leaps and bounds. Pumpkins are have started to run now along with the squash.  Lots of blossoms so will see how we make out a bit later.  Tomatoes are producing and will need some thinning of leaves within the next few days.  To thick of foliage isn’t what one is looking for at this time.   Nice cool nights make it great for sleeping, along with dry warm sunny days now are in the forecast for the rest of the summer. I am pretty sure now we won’t get the hot muggy days of years past.  At least not this year.  Great for those looking to enjoy nature as she displays here splendour.  Have a great day and if the chance be upon you, soak up some of her rays.  Nothing is more healthy for you than the sun.  Moderation of course.  GW

Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good morning.  Well waking up temperatures were a bit cool sitting at: 11.1 C | 51.98 F.  But some sun is showing itself so things will warm up in a bit.

Forecast For Today:  Fairly fine, possible showers early.

Bug Report:  Pretty good out there these past few days all things taken into consideration.  Could say we are at our normal cycle for the time of year.

Fishing Times:    Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from;  10:30 AM – 12:30 PM.  Then a bit later from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  I give it  1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Not the best but things will improve in the next few days.

Around Town:  Well with the rain ending and sun making her appearance folks will also get out more doing what comes naturally.  Seems that when the sky’s are gloomy so are us humans.  Why is that? Well simple really, we humans come from energy which is all around us, energy comes from the sun.  No sun, well….we aren’t at our best.  The rain though along with good soil sure got my gardens to growing this year. I took a few pictures to show you.  Notice how shiny the leaves are showing off their health.  I have to say it is about the best year we ever had for growing things.  Click Pictures to Enlarge and have a great day.

Good Morning From Port Loring Ontario

Good Morning:  And what a beautiful morning it is.  Sun is shinning and the world is looking like it is establishing stability.  Temperatures this morning are sitting at…14 C | 57.2 F.  It will warm up some as the day moves forward.

Forecast For Today:   Changeable, mending with lots of sunshine.

Bug Report:   Mosquitoes are still in abundance pestering us humans and critters of nature.  The cooler weather though in the mornings have slowed them down some.  Horseflies and Deerflies are slowly entering the picture.  But one seems to adapt with time, to what the elements of our Mother Earth puts forth off and on throughout the year.

Fishing Times:  Well today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there catching them will be from…11:30 AM – 1:00 PM.  Then a bit later from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating for catching them out of 4.  Not the greatest day, but one just never knows really, till he or she puts that bait into the water hidden by a hook of choice.  Good luck.

Around Town:   Quiet for a Sunday morning.  Hardly a car moving up and down Highway 522.  So that tells me tourists haven’t arrived in quantities as of yet and the locals are enjoying life at home.  Kind of what life is all about I would think.  I took a few pictures of our one garden yesterday.  It is growing so nicely with the tomatoes, lettuce & herbs showing off, I figured I would share it with the world.  Eating fresh pesticide and chemical free salads every day. NO GMO.” Sometimes twice a day and what flavour they have.  Juicy with a crisp sense of entertainment that enlightens and entices ones mouth with every bite.  What could be better? Tomatoes are out in blossom also, which will bring upon us some succulent treats in the days ahead. You won’t find them in any grocery store, or fast food restaurant, let me tell you.  Only one way to administer them to ones body.  Grow your own, or find some that does.  Ask before buying if they are planting GMO seeds or spraying them with pesticides, and other chemicals such as fungicides.  if soSAY NO and find someone that does. Click Pictures to enlarge for better viewing.  Also a vase of flowers the wife picked for our table and yours.  Sure smell nice let me tell you.  Nothing can bring more enjoyment into a home that a bouquet of fresh cut flowers.  Entices my nose and spirit, every time I pass them by on entering our home. My lovely wife has a knack at doing these things.  Great lady for sure and I do emphasize lady, which means… A respect for a woman, a title of honour borne by various classes of women of the peerage.   Enjoy your day my friends, soak up some sunshine, eat well and no doctors will be needed.

What’s Happening Here In Port Loring Ontario

Good morning. Well cloudy day waking up, with rain most the day yesterday and all through the night. We had 16 mm of rain.  So thinking Mother Natures has served her critters and planet well.  Also giving my gardens a needed drink.   Waking up temperatures were sitting at;  17.1 C | 62.78 F.

Forecast For Today: Changeable, mending with clouds giving way to some sun.  Then the rest of the week is looking good with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures thrown in for good measure.

Bug Report:   Lots of mosquitoes out there annoying folks to say the least.  Come right inside with you when entering the house.  I believe there is nothing worse than having a couple buzzing around ones head in the night while trying to sleep.  You just know what is about to happen.  Plays on a fellows nerves you could say.  Ah well, if that is all I have to worry about, thinking I am  doing quite well.  Just the same wouldn’t hurt my feelings if them suckers moved on to another place in time.

Fishing Times;   Well the old weather stick is saying the best times to be out there today will be from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4.  Tomorrow things will start to change for the better.  Good luck.

Around Town:  Quiet for most parts but there are a few venturing into new projects I see as driving down the highway.  Few new homes in the area and lots of construction being the norm for our area.   Went to North Bay yesterday do visit my son Karl who works at NORAD.   Had a great evening and supper there in town, with him taking us out for Father’s Day.  Picked up a couple weeks of groceries and headed on back home.  Being late in the evening it was getting dark and you know…. I have to say here that them road signs are a down right pain for blinding folks while driving at night. When the lights hit them it takes your mind off what you should be looking at, blinding you of what lies ahead.  They should tone that reflector paint down a touch in all sincerity. One of these days someone will get in an accident.  It takes ones eyes a bit to recover after passing each one.  The big yellow ones is my meaning, that shows curves and things.  The rest are fine.  At any rate….food for thought you could say.  Have a great day my friends, heading to have a cup of dandelion tea.  Just dug one up and my lovely wife made us a healthy delicious drink.  Free for the taking one could say.  No doctors needed if you know how to look after yourself.  GW

Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good morning folks.  Well a bit cloudy this morning.  Some rain is in the forecast with the forecast predicting:  Stormy, much rain throughout the day and into this evening.  Temperatures this morning waking up are sitting at…16 C | 60.8 F.  Will warm up a touch as the day progresses.  For your up to date weather info click the following link…http://www.loringlsb.ca/weather-station/

Bug Report:   Well mosquitoes are out there in full force feeding off us humans and critters of warm blood.   Today they will be in abundance with it being cloudy and rain in the forecast.  Blackflies are pretty much gone but there are some out there nibbling on ones arms and ankles.  Deerflies and Horseflies are also making an appearance pestering folks.  So one just has to persevere I suppose.

Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from…9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then again from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. I give it a 3 fish rating for catching them today.  Good luck.

Around Town:   As yesterday, lots of campers heading up and down Highway 522 these days.  Won’t be long now and we will be swarming with folks heading off to their cottages and places of stay.  Great to see them arrive each year and enjoying what nature has to offer..  So my friends you all have a great day.  GW.

Cottage Country, Port Loring Ontario, Canada

Morning Folks.  Nice looking day out there.  The rain yesterday that was thinking of coming into our area didn’t arrive.  Maybe a bit today, as our forecast for today is saying it will be…. Showery early, improving though throughout the day.  So thinking not much rain is in our presence at this time.  Temperatures waking up are sitting at…12.4 C | 54.32 F and will warm up a few more degrees a bit later.

Bug Report:  Finding the mosquitoes are quite bad this morning to start things off. Few pesky deerflies also are around.  Also a few blackflies are still annoying folks, but for most parts they are gone for another year.

Fishing Times:   Well this morning looking at the old weather stick and putting things together it seems that the best times to be out there will be from.. 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM then again from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM an one more time later on from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them early in the day and a 3 out of 4 fish rating for catching them later on in the day.  So might pull in a few today.  Good luck!

Around Town:   See lots of tourists and cottage owners moving into the area these days.  Campers, Boats, 4 Wheelers you name it, all are making their appearance for another season.  Great to see them arriving each morning watching them go up and down the highway loaded with things to make their venture into the wilderness more fun and exciting.  For myself I can enjoy nature by sitting in an old chair, quietly taking in what she has to offer.  Guess that is a sign of one getting a touch older.  Not that old though.

Garden Report:   Things are growing quite rapidity these days.  Lettuce, spinach and pretty well all our herbs are being enjoyed each day now.  Tomatoes are starting to show off a bit, but could use a drink.  Was hoping for some rain but thinking now, that I might have to be their source of nourishment, water wise any ways.  Pumpkins an cucumbers are also doing well, along with the squash.  So great year for a garden.  Still not to late to get one started if your interested. Most places have plants already started and wouldn’t take much to get them to growing.  Might be a touch later for your tomatoes, and others with fruits, but still worth while planting.  Well guess that is it for this morning.  Heading out for my Dandelion tea, take in our surrounding scenes and breath in some of that fresh northern air.  Then see where the day brings us. Enjoy your day my friends, get some sunshine on that skin of yours.  No Doctors Needed.

Port Loring Ontario, Canada

Good morning.  Well not too bad of a day out there so far this morning.  Signs are pointing though towards some showers or a thunderstorm later on today.  Temperatures this morning waking up are sitting at…12.8 C | 55.04 F.  Will warm up in a bit.

Forecast:  Rain at frequent intervals.

Bug Report:  Blackflies are pretty much all gone.  Mosquitoes are around though pestering folks somewhat.  But not too bad so far in certain areas.  Did see a deer fly or two yesterday.  They also are an annoyance to those out in the bush, as they don’t leave you alone.  They will even follow you for a mile if they so choose.  Hard to get away from them once they have you in their sights.  Also got quite a bite on them too.  For me they are the worst, more so than the mosquitoes or the blackflies. But one has to put up with these creatures of nature if he or she chooses to live, in this neck of the woods.

Fishing Corner:  Looking at the old weather stick and putting together the formula that has been handed down in our family for many years, it is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM, then once again from1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 4 for catching them, both times today.  Should be a great day for bringing them in.  Good Luck!

Information Around Town.  Business wise not to much tor report here this morning.  Most folks around here on Sunday take things easy.  Some goes to their place of worship, others just enjoy nature as their guide to happiness.  Seems fitting to me.  I finished up yesterday planting my gardens with vegetables of choice.  I like to put some things in early and then some later on so we have a constant supply of greens throughout the growing season.  We have already started eating from our herb garden, along with our romaine lettuce and kale.  Nothing more healthy than fresh veggies straight from the garden to your plate.  Put them along side a good long walk, soaking up some sunshine and a bit of deep breathing, bringing in our fresh northern air and you got one healthy body.  No Doctors Needed.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Happenings In And Around Port Loring, Ontario

Good morning.  Hope all is well with you all on a beautiful Friday Morning.  Sun is shinning with temperatures sitting at…..11.3 C | 52.34 F.  Forecast for this fine day is saying that it will be…Improving as the day progresses.  So can’t beat that.  Also looks like a pretty nice weekend, with a chance of a thunderstorm on Sunday.  Depends how close a system gets that is moving towards us from the USA.

Bug Report:  Have to say the Blackflies were not bad yesterday but that was due to the cooler weather and north winds we had.  Today might be another story. Mosquitoes have picked up some in pestering folks, but still not as bad as last year, at least here at our home.  But on the bright side Fathers Day is closing in and usually not to far after that the Blackflies move on for another year.

Fishing Times:  Today the old weather stick is predicting that the best times to be out there fishing will be from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM.  Then a bit later from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 2 1/2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Good luck!

Information in and around town: Pretty quiet.  But I have found more folks are opening up their cottages for the season.  Also resorts are gearing up for what is to come.  I kind of thing we will have a good year business wise with the USA moving forward and our dollar on the low side once again.  For some it is good for others it is bad.  I have found it depends on how you make or spend your money.  So my friends, sun is shinning means a great day for soaking up some much needed Vitamin D.  No Doctors Need.  Have a great day.  GW

What’s Happening In and Around Port Loring, Ontario, Canada.

Morning.  Well had a touch of rain early this morning.  Sun is trying to show herself and will a bit later on in the day.

Temperatures: this morning are sitting at…8.6 C | 47.48 F.

Forecast Today: Rather unsettled clearing later.

Bug Report: Well rain and cooler weather slowed them down from biting a touch, for the last couple days, but they will be out in earnest once the sun starts to shine.  Some say the mosquitoes are quite bad where they live, some say they aren’t half as bad as they were last year.  So thinking it is where one resides that makes the difference.  Here where we live they aren’t too bad at all thus far.  Blackflies are irritable for my wife, but for me they are more of a annoyance than anything else, getting into ones eyes, nose, ears and up the pant legs.  They don’t really bite me.  I have seen folks that come into our store chewed up something fierce though.  I tell them to chew up a piece of plantain and administer it to the bite, which will take away any infection, along with stopping the itch within a minute or two.  Just one more tip that will be in my upcoming health book using nothing but Mother Nature to heal yourself.

Fishing Report:  Well after taking a look at the old weather stick and putting my Grandfathers formula together along side it, it shows that the best times to be out there today, will be from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.   Then once again from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  Good luck!

Around Town:  Still quiet for most parts.  The Hardware stores are starting to gear up with folks coming in to purchase things.  Lots of repair work that needs to be done after the long winter we have had I suspect.  Others would be? I was talking to Kerry at Booth’s Service Centre and he said he had lots of work on hand which is what is expected when one does good work.  Also Mike down here at the old Shell station is busy, especially this time of year as he stores folks boats wintering them, along with getting them ready to go back into the water come spring. In-between he fixes all kinds of small engines.  Busy fellow to say the least.  My other friend at Arnstein Garage is also busy and very nice to deal with and does great work. With him and Ace Hardware being the only ones that has gas now in our area, I am surmising that they both will be doing a booming business this coming season.  Also don’t forget to drop by Rupert’s Variety Store while In Arnstein as there is no better place to get a few groceries, along with all kinds of other items of choice. Nice folks to deal with too.   There you have it, some great places to shop and get your items of choice fixed.  I will add to the list of places to shop or visit as time goes by as there is plenty more.  So guess that is about it for this morning.  Hope you all have a great day and if possible try and get outside and breath in some of this fresh northern air, that we have in abundance, all for free.   No Doctors Needed.  GW

Around Town Here In Port Loring Ontario

Good morning. Well a touch cool this morning with temperatures sitting at.                        11.8 C | 53.24 F.  Forecast for today is calling for it be…. Unsettled, probably improving as the day progresses.  Sun is already starting to show itself.  It will warm up a few degrees in a bit.

Bug Report: Still lots of Blackflies and Mosquitoes around to bug a feller.  One just has to admit defeat till nature remedies what it has brought upon us humans.  Lots of birds, and larger insects life’s directly depend on them for food.  We just have to realize that we aren’t the only ones that live here on this old earth.  In saying that, we as humans go by what we see above earth.  But if truth be known that is only a speck of what is really happening.  As below ground is whole new world, alive and carrying out their daily routines just so us above ground can survive.  That is if we leave things alone.  Amazing world we live on and in my friends.

News Around Town:  All is quiet.  Not much traffic to speak of neither.  Good time of year to do your visiting, grocery shopping or what ever before the summer rush of tourists arrive.  We do just that.

Fishing Times:  Well today thinking on what it will be like for catching fish, the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from…9:00 AM – 11:45 AM then once again from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  I give it a 1 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. Not the greatest day, but it will get better.  Enjoy your day my friends and try and soak up a bit of sunshine.  No Doctors Needed.  GW

What’s Happening Here In Port Loring, Ontario, Canada

Morning.  Well to start things off this morning it is somewhat cloudy, but the sun is showing herself, off and on.  Clouds will amber off in a bit.  Temperatures this morning are sitting at…13.5 C | 56.3 F.  It will warm up to 22 C / 73 F a bit later with plenty of sunshine.  Forecast taken from our very own weather station here in Port Loring is calling for it to be...Showery early, improving as the day progresses.  For all the data relating to our weather, please visit our main page.  You can get to it by clicking the following link…http://www.loringlsb.ca/weather-station/

When arriving at the weather stations main page, you can click on any graph, which will then open to a really nicely displayed graph. Not saying the first ones aren’t accurate, as they are, just we have improved some things. There you can now run your mouse over that graph and can find hourly, monthly and yearly data pertaining to our weather, with pin point accuracy.  Our weather station here in Port Loring is every bit as accurate as the Government Weather Stations and in some  instances even more informative.  Reason being the other weather stations are predicting weather from a long ways off, where as ours is taking readings from right here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada.  It is a well thought out station, with Karl Walters adding and improving things on the site every day.  We are very lucky to have him amongst us, as it takes a technologist of some pretty high expertise, to make things work and keep them working.  All our sensors are made in the USA & Canada, not off shore.  Data Loggers, Antennas and other items are made in Guelph Ontario,  Costly yes, but for precise accuracy, it is what is needed,,,along with constant attention.  More sensors will be added as funding becomes available.

Bug Report;  Black Flies are making a nuisance of themselves with the mosquitoes following not to far behind.  One gets away from the black flies by going inside a building or shelter but when it comes to the mosquitoes they are everywhere.  Even in ones bedroom at night if you leave that outside door open to long when entering.  Nothing worse, than trying to sleep, while hearing that buzzing around ones ears.  Joys of living in the north they say.  Hmm.

Fishing Times:  For those wanting to do some fishing and wanting to know the time to catch them, the old weather stick along with Grandfathers formula, is saying that the best time to be out there will be from; 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM.  Again a bit later from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM.  Then once again even later from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  I give it a 4 Fish Rating out of 4 for catching them today.  One great day for catching them to say the least.  These days don’t come long too often.

News Around Town:  Not to much to report.  Lots of folks planting their gardens with the threat of frost behind us.  Being so cool one would think it would have put us a bit behind this year, but in reality it hasn’t.  Gardens still could have been planted one week before the 24th of May. Same as last year.  I still got some things to get in the ground myself, so thinking I had better get to it before it is to late.  Certain things have to be done at certain times, if one wants to eat healthy come fall.   So my friends, get outside, get some dirt on your skin along with sunshine and your on your way to a healthy summer.    No Doctors needed.  Also now you can leave a Comment on the Blog if you so choose, a new added feature. The Important Things In Life. Right Here In Port Loring Ontario.

Well how you all doing this morning?  Good I hope.  No reason not to with weather being so nice.  Long time coming. Seems lately we get three months summer and  7 months what ever.  But I am not complaining I still believe we live in one of the best parts of the world right here in Port Loring.  Fresh air in abundance, along with fine fishing all set in amongst some pretty good friends.  What more can a feller ask for.  Any ways.  Waking up this morning temperatures were sitting at…10.4 C | 50.72 F.  Will warm up to around  23 C / 73 F.   Forecast for today taken from our very own weather station…is saying it will be…Changeable, mending though as the day progresses.  So what more could one ask for.

Bug Report:  Lots of Black flies out there, but as I said before once the Dragon Flies make their appearance the Black Flies will meet their doom.  I have always said along comes one trouble maker and not to far behind is one that eliminates the trouble maker.  You know, seems to me that I have found that to be true with humans too.  As over the years  a few that have caused our family grief, has paid dearly for it.  My old Grandfather said it was a gift of sort that he left for our family and a few others.  Good thing to have in ones back pocket I would think.

Fishing Times: For Port Loring;  Well today looking at the old weather stick and putting the formula together that my Grandfather came up with is saying that the best time to be out there catching them will be from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then again from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM and one more time from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM.  Lots of time to latch on a few for sure.  I give it a one fish rating in the morning, and a 3 fish rating out of 4 in the latter.

Around town:  Folks are moving around some.  Stores are doing quite well as they should, with only two in town.  Seems to me we have room for more, especially a grocery store.  If my wife and I were a few years younger we would give it some serious thought, as anyone now that opens a grocery store would have it pretty well all their own way.  And what better place for that to happen than right here in Port Loring Ontario.  Food for thought you could say.  Well heading off for my dandelion tea and see what the day brings upon us.  Enjoy your day my friends, soak up at the minimum, ten minutes of sunshine today.  Your body will thank you for it.  Along with that…no doctor will be needed.  GW

What’s Happening Port Loring Ontario….

Good morning.  Well somewhat cloudy this morning.  Temperatures are sitting…12.4 C | 54.32 F.  We will see things warm up to near 20 C / 70 F a bit later on with some sunshine making its appearance.  Forecast taken from our very own weather station here in Port Loring is calling for it to be….Changeable, mending as the day progresses.

For those wanting to do a bit of fishing today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from…12:00 PM – 3:00 PM.  Then once again from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  I give it a two fish rating early in the day and a 3 fish rating out of 4 later on in the day.  So fish for supper tonight I am thinking.

News in and around Port Loring.  Nothing to report other than the black flies are still bugging folks along with the mosquitoes making an appearance yesterday afternoon. But I don’t think they will be as bad this year, if my predatory presence of mind is in order.   One will soon find out.  We could see some bad outbreaks in certain areas where the water was protected as in them instances the larva had a chance to hatch.  But for most parts should be OK being a cold spring.  Lets hope so as after black fly season is over folks are scratching enough.   LOL  Enjoy your day my friends.  GW

Bugs Report:  Well they are out in full force this morning to say the least.  One has to remember though that if you stand inside a building or shelter of some sort they won’t bug ya.  So that is why I try and plan on my shop work for this time of year.  Trouble lies with that thinking that my vegetable gardens need planting.  So what can one do.  Also I found that if one rubs some of good old mother earth on ones arms it helps quite a bit.  Lot better than any bug repellent and your not poisoning yourself.  Never could see why folks use that stuff.  Amazing though how many does.  Good clean  soil, Clay in this instance should be your choice if available. Also is a great suntan lotion and leaves your skin feeling soft and invigorating.  .  Just a wee bit mixed with some fresh water and rubbed over the skin is all it takes.  Try it sometime you will be surprised and your body will love you for it.  But just plain dirt from ones garden works good too, other than making your skin feel a touch dry for a bit.  Full report on what good old earth will do will be in my upcoming health book.  Two thirds finished now.        My Opinion Only.

Forecast for today is calling for it to be…Fairly fine, possible showers early in the day.

For those wanting to do some fishing the old weather stick is saying the best times to be out there will be from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them.  For those that attracts black flies, you might need a bug jacket if fishing close to shore.  Enjoy your day my friends.

Good morning.  Well had some rain through the night.  Temperatures are sitting at., 11.6 C | 52.88 F.   Forecast is saying this morning that it will be...Showery early, improving as the day moves forward.   Temperatures will also improve given time along with some sunshine showing itself.  Should reach up near 20 C / 68 F.

Bug report.  Back flies will not be to bad until the rain stops, then they will be back in full form.  But each day is closer to them moving on for another year.  In saying that though one has to remember they are a main source of food for their predators like the birds, dragon flies and other insects.  Standing back and appreciating nature, is really what we should be doing and not making rash decisions like spraying thousands of gallons of pesticides into our environment. Not a good thing and through my eyes should be stopped.  One has to remember for every not so good bug there is another bug that eliminates them not so good bugs.  Nature should be left alone and not interfered by us humans that think we know more than she does.  Working along side old Mother Nature is the road to choose.  My opinion only of course.

For those wanting to do some fishing today the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be after lunch from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM  I give it 2 fish rating out of 4 for catching them. Not the greatest but then one never knows when that trophy bass is wanting to bite.  Enjoy your day my friends.  GW

Information In and Around Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good morning.  Well a bit cloudy here in Port Loring this morning.  A touch cool with temperatures sitting at…12.9 C | 55.22 F but will warm up admirably as the day progresses. I did light the wood furnace this morning to take the dampness out of the basement and the house in itself.  Also got my shop warming up, so some work that I have planned can be done comfortably.  Seems these days the insides of buildings is colder than the outside.  Forecast for today is calling for it to be much like it was yesterday…Stormy, much rain.  Bug report…well the Black Flies are out in full force to say the least.  Not biting me as of yet but others I talked to are complaining somewhat.  I have found what you are wearing pertaining to perfume, make up, hair spray things like that will draw them to an individual quite rapidly.  Also what you eat is another item that one should be watching.  One should be eating lots of vegetables more so than meat of any kind.  Kind of easy to figure out if one takes a close look at things.  Vegetables are nature.  Nature is where Black Flies live.  They don’t harm nature for most parts, so if we become nature we are left alone.  Has worked for my wife and I for a good number of years.  In another note. For those wanting to do some fishing the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from…9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. If it starts to rain might as well put the poles away for the day.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 4 for catching them though..   Enjoy your day my friends.   GW

News For Port Loring

Highway 522 is snow covered with icy sections with some drifts blowing in here and there.  Care should be taken for sure if out and about.  Myself thinking it is a good day to stay in where it is warm and relax until the storm is over.  Suppose to clear up later on this afternoon or into tonight.  So, have to see.

On another note I am looking for a good Excalibur Crossbow if one has for a reasonable price.  Thinking I might just give it a try next hunting season.  A new one costs around 545.00 at Bass Pro Shop, so if something doesn’t come along I guess I will go for a drive.  Lots of time yet though so will wait for a bit to see what is out there.  If you have one that you are selling or know of one let me know at [email protected].   Enjoy your day my friends.   GW

News For Port Loring

Quiet as usual around town.  Folks are gearing up though for Black Friday, biggest shopping day before Christmas in the USA.  Some would like you to believe it hasn’t come to Canada but it doesn’t take much looking around to see that they are wrong and it is here.  I for one do most of my shopping when it arrives and have found one can get more deals then than on Boxing Day.  But to each their own I always say.   Good prices I take advantage of.  Have a great day my friends and stay safe if out hunting or anywhere for that matter.
