Below is a link from a friend that sent me this clip of a family here in Port Loring. To watch click link below. Also here is the info on that clip from the fellow himself. A little bit of History directly to you from many years ago. Enjoy!!
Hi George
My name is Grenville Brooks. I was born in Port Loring in 1940.
I have a short video clip that was originally saved from 8mm to vcr and now the vcr tape is started to deteriorate. I saved it to mpg format.
I believe it to be taken in the late 1930’s or early 1940’s by Mr. Robertson on Jim Brooks’ farm which was up the hill from Norman Brooks’ saw mill.
Ron Robertson (my cousin)Saved it to vcr from 8mm some time ago.
It shows Jim Brooks..my grandfather
Arnold Brooks…my father
Margret Weller(nee) Brooks…my aunt
Thought I would do up a tribute to Agnes Lee, previous owners of our home here in Port Loring. Great lady for sure. Below you can click on the pictures, which will enlarge them for you so you can read about her past life. For me to say more isn’t necessary, write up below says it all.
This here picture was taken many years ago right here at our home in Port Loring. Old George was quite a feller for sure along with being self reliant. Don’t think there was ever a job that came along that he couldn’t remedy. Here is a picture of his home made saw. I still got a bit of here at the house. Old Ice House in the back is still standing too. Click To Enlarge

Nice Old Picture Taken Many Years Ago. Often wonder what would be going through ones mind when this picture was taken. Click on picture to enlarge and then let it take you back to a time when things were much much simpler, in a few respects.

Years ago where I was raised there was an old general store that once a week I got to visit. The two main items on my list while there was the candy sticks and listening to the old fellows that gathered there each day tellin’ their stories. Also take notice of that old scale on the counter. I got one identical here at our home and still works great. This picture of Kelcey’s General Store here in Port Loring brought back a lot of memories for me so thought I would share.
