Heavy snow, sometimes accompanied by lightning and thunder in a few locales, occurred throughout the night. The snow will continue for much of the day in most areas. A further 5 to 10 centimetres of snow are expected today bringing the total snowfall amounts to between 15 and 25 cm by this evening. Now in saying all this, one should take into consideration that 25 cm is only 9 inches old scale. For one I believe this metric was only brought into our country to deceive folks and if you sit back do some thinking on the subject you will see what my meaning is. Take a look at the gas, speed limits, wind speeds, temperatures you name it. The truth is right there, one just has to look. My Opinion Only. Have a great day and stay safe.

I was talking to Doris, nice lady who heads up Trash and Treasures here in town and she says it is chocked full of items for the coming year. I have to say that them volunteers that keep the place going sure does a fine job. Not only a fine job, but the work they do there, is simply amazing. Everything that is sold from that store goes directly to our Fire Department here in town, which over the years has helped immensely. I can honestly say that it it wasn’t for them, we would be lacking in a lot of items, including some Fire Trucks. Great folks and if your by there come summer, please drop by and say hello, and let them know how much you appreciate all their hard work. Have a great day my friends.

Quiet. Actually it is quite peaceful, folks are sittin’ back and taking life easy. Can’t say I blame them neither, as won’t be long before the busy season. Lookin’ forward to them warmer temperatures though. I have noticed this year that we have had a lot more snow mobiles enjoying the trails around our home. The Shell station in town is busy as all get out, pumping gas and on the weekends if going by, you will see an endless row of machines waiting to be filled with fuel. Good to see them out and about, as means folks aren’t staying cooped up in their homes and out doing what they enjoy. Last year there wasn’t as many, thinking the media had folks minds messed up, thinking things were so bad out there financially wise that they stayed home. Not a good thing and folks have to rely on their own way of thinking and doing things and not be swayed by others. My way of lookin at things. Well tea time here so you all have a great day.

Good old machine, bought it used around fifteen years ago and still runs like a top. It sure throws snow let me tell ya. Nothing like the ones of today. Well still quiet around town, seems that is the thing for most of our winter here. But that is OK as folks need time for their families and making plans for the coming summer. I am thinking it will be a good year for businesses, along with some nice weather thrown in for good measure. Folks are buying items for their homes an cottages, cars are selling with food on top of the list. Good food too, mostly organic which is a great happening for Canada. Especially if you figure we are the pill popping country of the world. Sure will make me happy to see an end to that and it will happen, time is all that is needed. Folks are waking up to what is right and not being fooled anymore. On another note my data taken from the old weather station says warmer weather is on the way for the coming week up into the high 30s, might even get into the 40s. Also warmer weather will bring with it some more snow, not a huge amount but should see a few inches mid week. So you all have a great weekend. Get outside and soak in some of that sun when she shows herself and breath in some of that good northern air. It’s what our bodies need so desperately.

Well not much to report here again today. Did go to town again yesterday as my wife and I had some things to do for the Local Services Board here in town. I often wonder if the folks in our district really realize what we five members do behind the scenes. Not to forget our secretary Nancy. One also has to remember us five don’t make a cent, as it is all volunteer work. Not complaining mind ya, as i put in for the job a few years ago realizing what was involved, as the other four have done. Just that a lot goes on at the Local Service Board, all for the good of our community. Sure there are a few heated moments now and then, but for most parts with this Board i can honestly say, things are getting done. Things that will help our community grow and thrive for years to come. Also things are being put in place that will last for years after we five have left. Also guidelines that make it easier for new members to adapt. Yep the Local Services Board has changed over the past three years let me tell ya. A Board that one can come to, sit down an leave knowing exactly what is going on through out our community. How’s that? Sound OK? Best I can come up with at the moment. Have a great day my friends.

Cold weather will be upon us for a few days then things will warm up a touch, which is OK by me. I am actually really looking forward to summer this year, even more than the past few years. Can’t wait to get outside and do some front porch sittin’ enjoying the warm southerly breezes, along with soaking in some of that sunshine. Of course putting that old Giesler Boat in the water will be a priority come spring. I have to say that out of all the boats that I have ever owned my Giesler has been the nicest. Some say it takes to much work keeping them in shape, but I haven’t found it that way at all. I keep mine out of the direct sun when not in use, but other than that it fends for itself. Great boat and would recommend it to anyone that wants to do some serious fishing. The old saying is, that if your not fishing in a Giesler, your just not fishing. Enjoy your day my friends, that’s what she is all about.

Thought I would mention here, as I have had a few folks ask. That the weather forecast I am giving you isn’t taken from the Government Web Site, or any other outside location. What you are seeing is weather data taken and given to you directly from my own personal weather station, right here in Port Loring. So what you are getting is accurate weather statistics as it happens, along with a 24 Hour Daily Prediction of what’s to come. Along with that the fishing times are figured out through moon placement in the sky, weather data, barometer readings, pressure readings, temperature, winds and many, many more items thrown in. All put together, along with the old weather stick that is on the side of our shop, I then have a formula given to me by my old Grandfather, that lets me know when the best fishing times and hunting times will occur. Each an every morning I sit here by the old computer, take all the data put together my forecasts and then send them along to you. Also should say, not one cent is made from this, it is all done for free. Kind of my way of helping our community. So there you go for those that were wondering how things were done at this end. Have a great day my friends and get outside and get some fresh air into them lungs today. Headin’ out there in a bit myself, just going to enjoy another tea then see where the day leads me.

Up to 34 degrees old scale here this morning, but cooler weather is on the way for the rest of the week. Lots of sunshine too, so good time to get out there and soak up a bit of that Vitamin D which we all need so badly this time of year. Daytime temperature is going to reach 36 °f and then drop to 25 °f later on tonight. Winds are from the west coming in from 8 to 15 MPH. Should die down as the day moves forward. The moon today will Rise at 4:32 PM & then Set at 6:27 AM. Moon Phase today is 98% Waxing Gibbous. The sun rose this morning at 7:35 AM & will Set at 5:31 PM, giving us here in Port Loring, 9 hrs. 56 mins. of daylight. Gaining another minute a day now, so up to three minutes a day. Doesn’t sound like much but it adds up and before you know it one is front porch sittin’ Can’t wait let me tell ya. The old weather stick says the best time to be out there ice fishing today will be from 9:30 AM till 1:20 PM then again from 3:30 PM till 4:30 PM. Out of a five fish day I give it a three fish rating. so pretty fair day for fishing. Myself I am a summer fisherman just never had the urge to get out there on that cold ice.
News For Port Loring
Not much happening, still really quiet around here other than a few snowmobiles flying by now and then LOL. Lots of them, but every time I hear one I know someone is having fun and hey. That is what life is all about, laughter and enjoying each day to its fullest. Have a great day my friends.
